Boiron Arnicare Roll On & Leg Cramp Relief Review

Summer of 2017 was a rough one! My husband was in chronic pain, and unfortunately nothing was working. Referred to a Dr in the city, one very hot day we drove down near Central Park, and after an hour we found out he needed major surgery. They were going in a cleaning out the arthritis around the hip, and replacing some of the damaged cartilage.

Two weeks later his 2 hour surgery ended up being 7.5 hours, which was insanely terrifying for me. I was alone in the waiting room waiting for some answers. Turns out he needed a partial hip replacement. After A very long recovery, we were on the search for some homeopathic products to help with some discomfort in his hip and leg. Cue:Boiron

I was extremely lucky to meet the wonderful people of Boiron way back in 2015 at Blogger Bash in New York City. The company is amazing, the people are knowledgeable and they are so generous. We had use their Arnicare before on back aches and loved it.

I was lucky enough again to go to an amazing event in NYC a few months ago and meet Boiron again! They have come out with so many new products, but of course I have to showcase the Arnicare Roll -On.

Arnicare Roll-on temporarily relieves muscle pain and stiffness due to minor injuries, overexertion, and falls; reduces pain, swelling, and discoloration from bruises.*

This product truly helps- or else I wouldn’t be sharing it. It obviously isn’t going to cure anything, but for temporary relief it’s amazing!

Active Ingredients**:

  • Arnica montana 1X HPUS – Relieves muscle pain and stiffness, swelling from injuries, discoloration from bruises

The letters HPUS indicate that this ingredient is officially included in the Homeopathic Pharmacopœia of the United States.

Inactive Ingredients:

  • Alcohol

  • Carbomer

  • Purified water

  • Sodium hydroxide

We also love the leg cramp tablets for temporary relief of leg cramps as well. Due to this surgery it he tends to get a lot more leg cramps and aches.

Arnicare Leg Cramps temporarily relieves dayand night cramps and spasms in calves, legs, thighs, and arms as well as cramps from muscular overexertion.*

Thanks to these products he can have some relief, and we are super thankful. Thank you Boiron!

**Boiron was amazing to send these products to me for review purposes only, and I always share my own opinion. This post is NOT sponsored and is my own words and experience.**

Food Allergies & Kids: Tips

The dreaded word…Allergies. I was a teacher for about 8 years (assistant teacher in a daycare while going through college, and then pre-k for 4 years), so I have seen and had many kids with allergies. I never thought I would be an allergy mom, and honestly I wasn’t until 2015.

Molly is now 8 and just got re-tested a few weeks ago, but let’s go back 4 years to when we found out. She was such a good eater! I loved being able to feed her all the good things (and some not good things on occasion) and our go to was always Snap Pea Crisps. We called them “Green Snacks”. We took a break from them for about 6 months, and One night she had them and her throat started closing. It started with hives around her mouth (photo above) and we rushed her to the local walk in. They have her an Epi-Pen and instantly felt better!

We followed up with our allergist and sure enough she was highly allergic to Legumes. Peas,Chick Peas, Beans, etc. This blew our minds due to being Puerto Rican we have Rice and Beans more then someone has Coffee in the morning!

This started some major food issues which we are still having today. I just got her retested and these were her arms. She is now allergic to Chicken…

Here are some tips for new allergy parents:

  • If your child has an Epi-Pen always always carry it (Of course).
  • Make sure your child tries other foods. Molly won’t even try things because she’s terrified she’s going to have a reaction- 4 years later!
  • Keep some snacks in your car Incase you are out and about!
  • Always tell other parents if you are dropping your child off and leaving them.
  • Make sure your child is aware of their allergy and if they are old enough remind them what they can and can not have.
  • For school birthdays, make a treat box and leave with your child’s teacher (so they aren’t left out).

Please note: I am NOT a doctor (and this is not sponsored). I just wanted to share my story and my tips with you!! I hope this can at least help one person!

Favorite Toys {Months 5-8}

Having kids almost 8 years apart is like starting over;completely. There are so many new fun toys and baby items out there, but there are also the old classics we know and love. I thought it would be fun to share Evan’s favorites (or what I think are his favorites) from Months 5-8.

Let’s start with the “old” but new version of V-Techs Stroll & Discover activity Walker.

Molly had one of these, but this is revamped. I went to an event in NYC a few months ago and met with V-Tech. They said this is the first time in years they have changed this model. There’s some new features and he absolutely loves the little door! The only downfall, is this is loud! Even on the lowest setting it’s loud. Either I don’t remember how loud toys are or I’m getting old!

To go along with the V-Tech theme, we absolutely love the Laugh and Learn Around the Town table! He got this for Christmas and wasn’t really interested in it until about a month ago! He’s huge on standing right now so this is the perfect toy!! The songs are super catchy as well. “Hi. It’s Puppy”!!! There are three different stages of play which makes for years of fun.

I love B.Toys by Battat. Baby B Elemenosquueze blocks is One of my favorites! These blocks are the best! They did not have these when Molly was a baby! They are really durable and super fun! We love building them up and knocking them down! Also each block is the letter of the alphabet. Took me weeks to notice!

Next up is a toy that I know he’s a bit too young for but he lovesssss to watch his sister play it! The Little People Friendly People Place. I love Little People. It’s probably one of my all time favorites. I got this before Evan was born for $10 at Kohl’s, so I picked it up and put it away! Two weeks ago we took it out and he really likes it! The Little People characters are also big enough so they aren’t a choking hazard! I can’t wait to purchase more!!

Last, this isn’t a toy but I have hard wood floors so this is a must for me! The B. Toys Beautifloor Alphabet Tiles are soft so if he falls and bonks himself it won’t hurt. Plus they are super bright and colorful!!

I hope this list helped everyone with some ideas for fun toys!! What are some of your favorite toys for baby’s?

Until next time,

Alena xo

What I really used from my Hospital Bag.

Hospital bag posts are huge. I absolutely love the internet because there is so much knowledge out there and amazing opinions, BUT it can get super overwhelming. I’m not going to lie; with my first baby 8 years ago, I packed everything (I mean, a ridiculous amount of stuff) and this time I decided to go minimal. I actually still didn’t even use everything! I gave birth in June, so it was pleasantly warm, but it can still get chilly in the hospital. Always remember, you may run hot during and after birth!

What I brought: Comfy pants, Nursing Bra & Shirts, Cardigan, Socks, Underwear, toiletries, chargers, wallet and flip flops.

For Baby: Diaper Bag, two outfits, a few onesies, my own pacifier, burp cloths, aquaphor, and my boppy!

First off, the Diaper Bag I purchased was the Skip Hop Duo.

I wanted a backpack, and this was the closest thing I found to my liking. Thankfully I got it on 50% off when Babies R Us was closing, so I only spent about $35 rather then $64. I don’t love it, but it works! It’s just very bulky. I feel like I’m constantly Knocking into people!

The hospital I delivered at was extremely generous with giving us items we needed as well as giving us extra to bring home.

So what did I really use…

For myself: I couldn’t shower for 12 hours after I gave birth, which was bizarre (since I gave birth vaginally) but this took us to about 4am. I was leaving the following day so I just washed myself up, and washed my hair in the sink. I HATE showering at the hospital. I did with my first, but I was SO incredibly sore with Evan I couldn’t even move. I had an epidural issue (they poked me 8 times in my back before getting in and then it didn’t work) and my back was extremely bruised. Honestly, the back pain was probably worse then my birth pain. If you’d like a birth story, let me know!!

I used their mesh underwear and pads. I know ALOT of people may think I’m crazy, but I actually felt more comfortable in them since I was SO bruised.

I suggest trying to use everything you can from them! I took home witch hazel and a bunch of different things as well. I’m not sure every hospital does this, but it was awesome!

For Baby:

I couldn’t dress him until after his procedure, which was the evening before we got discharged. So I only ended up using one onesie and his go home outfit. I also used my own burp clothes and I’m SO glad I brought my boppy. I just washed it and changed the cover when I got home to prevent germs- but I got tons of use out of it the first 48 hours!

All in all, I suggest using what they have if possible! Bring minimal stuff, and try to enjoy that first few days with baby!

Funk…

Have you ever been in a funk you just can’t shake? I haven’t posted, because I’m having a hard time knowing which direction I’d like to take my blog. Do I stay true to myself or conform to what is popular? Do people really want to hear about my life or do they just want to see reviews?

I truly love this space. I love to share with you all, I just need to find ME again! What do you do to find yourself?

Until next time,

Alena xoxo
